Dear friends,

Over the years many of you have asked about the film being adapted from the title story of my second book, "Pu-239 and Other Russian Fantasies." I'm pleased to announce that it will finally be screened, premiering on HBO Saturday, November 17, at 8 pm.

Directed and written for the screen by Scott Z. Burns, the film stars Paddy Consadine and Radha Mitchell. I have a very brief walk-on, measured in nanoseconds, crossing a subway platform. The film's rated the TV equivalent of an R, for violence and Russian-accented profanity, none of it performed by me.

For those of you living off the grid - that is, only with Basic Cable - my understanding is that the film will eventually be available on DVD, from the usual rental places.

У Роджерса (да и вообще в Канаде, помоему) нет HBO как такого, но есть канадский Movie Network, у которого есть some HBO programming.

Спасибо. Ну, из-за одного фильма подписываться на Movie Network я точно не буду, у меня и телевизора-то нормального нету. Придется искать мецената с телевизором и подпиской. Или уж тогда ждать, пока он на DVD выйдет.

А чем эта кинолента хороша/знаменита?

Я переводила другую книжку этого автора, и она была весьма хороша. Так что если при экранизации не испортили, можно надеяться, что фильм тоже хорош.
